Due to a new event organized the same day by the municipality of Saint-Raphaël, the race organization has no choice but to change the date initially scheduled from May 12 to June 2. Below is the press release from Denis Mortier, president of the Saint-Raphaël Triathlon, which explains the reasons for this imposed change and provides more information on the holding of the race:
"A forced change of date"
Two months before the second edition of the Corniche d'Or triathlon, we are
forced to make a rare decision, so close to the event, but which is ours
imposed by the City of Saint-Raphaël: The triathlon scheduled for May 12, 2019 is postponed to Sunday June 2 2019.
While the City has supported us from the beginning in our project to install the triathlon
In the center of Saint-Raphaël, we learned only a few days ago, the
Municipality's desire to host a Formula 1 “roadshow” on Sunday May 12!
In view of the constraints in terms of security and human resources, it was
impossible to organize both events on the same day. After working in concert with the Municipality and considering several options During the last days, the change of date was the only valid compromise on which we could agree on.
Towards the triathletes already registered for the event, towards the partners who have placed their trust in us, towards the Provence-Alpes – Côte d'Azur Triathlon League which has entrusted us with the organisation of a stage of the Division 3 regional circuit, towards the 40 teams from 24 clubs in the region who will be taking part in this circuit, our responsibility is enormous, and we had to offer them a fallback solution.
It is also to honor our commitments that we are giving ourselves a few days to think, with the agreement of the League, to try to propose an event specific to D3 on May 12. We will inform you as soon as possible. Of course, athletes already registered on the S Open and M courses, who will not be able to participate in the event on June 2 will be fully reimbursed. For all others, we will meet you on Sunday, June 2, under the same terms and with the same program as initially planned.
