TRIATHLON – Ironman 70.3 World Championship Nice 2019: victory for Norwegian Gustav Iden, Yvan Jarrige 12th

Norwegian Gustav Iden became the 70.3 Ironman 2019 world champion this morning. On the magnificent course in Nice, the 2nd best performer world champion of all time in the half-ironman format, delivered the perfect race and beat the British and double Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee (London 2012 and Rio 2016). The American Rodolphe Von Berg took 3rd place. The first Frenchman, Yvan Jarrige finished 12th.

THE COURSE OF THE RACE

As in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, the swim is led by Josh Amberger. The Australian leads a good fifteen competitors including some of the main favorites: the Briton Alistair Brownlee, the Spaniard Javier Gomez, the Norwegians Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden, and the Americans Rodolphe Von Berg, winner here last year of the test event of these 70.3 Worlds, and Ben Kanute.
