Strava has updates already available

Strava has no less than 80 million athletes in its community, making it the leading social network for athletes. Its ongoing goal is to improve the usability of its mobile and web interface. To do this, new features that anticipate and respond to the needs expressed by athletes are constantly added. In June, group challenges, the new feature for 2021, are making their appearance on the Strava app.

Group Challenges, a major update

The new feature is that it is now possible to challenge your loved ones to a tailor-made challenge. Group challenges are the new feature of Strava.

How to access it? The full experience is available to subscribers, on mobile only (iOS + Android). Non-subscribers can create or participate in 3 group challenges before being invited to subscribe.

How does it work? A challenge lasts a minimum of one day and a maximum of one year. The athlete who initiated the challenge can only invite athletes who follow him on Strava, a maximum of 25 per challenge. They must accept the invitation to take part in the group.

The creator of the challenge will choose a goal from those proposed (the most activities, the fastest effort or the longest distance), the duration as well as the sports taken into account (from among the 32 sports supported by Strava).

A general ranking will allow each participant to measure their progress in relation to the set objective, but also in relation to the other athletes.

Updated the “Maps” tab of the application

What's new? With this update to the Maps tab, all dimensions related to segments and routes are grouped into a single section. Segments are easier to use. The Maps tab now offers segment suggestions.

How does it work? Organized into 6 categories, the recommendations are now personalized to help athletes plan the type of race or course they want to follow.

Popular Sites: A sample of the most popular segments in the area the athlete is located in.

New locations: a sample of the most popular segments of the area, which the athlete has not yet visited.

Beating records: the segments on which the athlete has the possibility of going for his personal record.

Ranking Up: Segments in which the athlete has the opportunity to move up the rankings to enter the top 10.

Get a workout in: Find nearby trails, interval training areas, and other places where the community works out.

Becoming a local legend : segments on which the athlete has the possibility of gaining the status of local legend.
