Julian Alaphilippe in Specialized Aethos

Specialized has prepared a custom version of its Aethos S-Works for world champion Julian Alaphilippe, which he uses at least in training around his home in Andorra in the Pyrenean passes. More flexible, more comfortable and lighter than the Tarmac S-Works that the riders of the Deceuninck – Quick Step team ride in races, the Aethos had already been chosen by Kasper Asgreen on some stages of the Tour de France. Zoom in on the Frenchman's bike, which in this version must be below the UCI weight limit of 6,8 kg.

The Aethos has thinner tubes than the Tarmac.
The bike is specially painted here in the colours of the world champion, a decoration which is not available commercially.
The Aethos S-Works benefits from Fact 12r carbon fiber, the highest level of the range at Specialized.
The Roval Alpinist seatpost is very light.
The Roval Alpinist CLX clincher wheels weigh just over 1200g.
Turbo Cotton tires offer exemplary performance.
The riders of the Deceuninck – Quick Step team are still equipped with the Shimano Dura-Ace 11-speed groupset.
For the pilot positiontage, Julian Alaphilippe remains faithful to his Pro Vibe carbon handlebar.
The handlebar is mounted with a Pro stem.
The world champion appreciates the Supacaz handlebar tape.
