THE CLIMB Alpe d'Huez: an individual time trial and a festive weekend to launch the summer

THE CLIMB Alpe d'Huez reinterprets the legendary 21-bend climb, with a hybrid proposition: an individual challenge and a collective celebration. Program the 18 June, this unique 15 km time trial, open to all cyclists upon registration, has the main ambition of activating the famous Isère resort from the opening weekend of the summer season.

OUR MISSION

The Alpe d'Huez Triathlon organizing team led by Cyrille and Laurence Neveu, in collaboration with the Youniti Marketing agency, is at the origin of the project. We felt the desire for an event that was both exclusive and festive, where the sporting challenge would be just a pretext fortagIt’s a moment of cycling communion ", says Cyrille Neveu, technical director. With a bib handout on Friday afternoon, a frenetic evening on Saturday and a closing breakfast to which all "climbers"Sunday morning, The idea is to stretch the event over a full weekendCompetitors also have the possibility of reserving their hotel with their bib when registering online (see below).

THE COURSE OF THE RACE

From Bourg d'Oisans, participants must reach the Palais des Sports de l'Alpe d'Huez, in individual time trial mode, i.e. 15 km. Arbitration is carried out by race stewards responsible for preventing any external assistance or mutual assistance between competitors. Four starting ramps are planned to accommodate up to 1000 competitors in a tight flow from 15 p.m. to 19 p.m.. Three intermediate timing points will allow runner tracking (online) et two giant screens (one at the start and the other at the finish) will display the evolution of the ranking in real time.

THE IDENTITY OF THE CLIMB ALPE D'HUEZ

As soon as the last competitor arrives, the event focuses on the Palais des Sports and on a second act punctuated by varied entertainment. On the program: the awards ceremony (no financial reward), a draw, a space reserved for food trucks, the broadcast of the video clip summarizing the day and two DJ sets, one of which will be performed by Jay Style. We imagine an ideal meeting place for cycling friends who are taking on a fun cycling challenge, but also looking to make the most of their stay, in a privileged setting. We want to offer an alternative and complementary vision to that of traditional cycle touring events. ", explains Laurence Neveu, in charge of relations with participants.
