The Critérium du Dauphiné will once again mark the start of the final straight before the start of the Tour de France, scheduled for less than three weeks later. And this year again, it is a tough event that promises to be a success, with a 31,9 km individual time trial in the middle of the week, before a final epic weekend. The seventh stage will see the riders climb the Col du Galibier from Saint-Chaffrey (2642 m) and the Col de la Croix de Fer (2067 m), via exactly the same slopes as on the Tour a few weeks later, and before finishing in the Vaujany resort (1243 m). The next day, the survivors will tackle the Plainpalais and Colombières passes, both classified in the first category, before a new arrival at the summit on the Plateau de Solaison at an altitude of 1508 m and at the end of an 11,3 km climb at an average of 9,2%.
