Event open to all lovers of the worldtagand mountain biking, the 34th edition of the Transmaurienne Vanoise will take place from July 17 to 22, starting from Val Cenis and Aussois in Savoie. In 2022, more than a thousand participants are expected for this friendly event, accessible to all. A single watchword: promote the practice of mountain biking for all, regardless of level.

6 days of pure mountain biking in the heart of Haute Maurienne Vanoise

Over the years, this X-Country mountain bike stage event has established itself as the great mountain bike festival. It is the only UCI (International Cycling Union) stage race in France with its Competition Mode. The Transmaurienne Vanoise offers three other Modes – Ultra, Hiking, Kids – so that everyone can participate.

Competition mode, the flagship event of the Transmaurienne Vanoise

In Competition Mode, from Monday 18 to Friday 22 July, the riders will set off on an adventure to the four corners of Haute Maurienne Vanoise. This mode offers five days of racing this year, for a real XC (Cross-country) mountain bike event in stages. On the programme, in three formulas to choose from: 5 stages including one contested in an XCO format (Olympic format Cross-country). The participants will then have to cover a short and rhythmic circuit several times, linking technical and fast sections.

Course 9000, the main event of the Transmaurienne Vanoise
The mountain bikers will compete on a course of more than 220km with 9m of elevation gain, spread over 000 different stages over 5 days. Labelled UCI XCM (cross-country marathon) 5, offering points and bonuses to the best competitors, this event remains open to all, licensed or not, from 2 years old.

Parcours 6000 is the “Little Thumb” of Competition mode
Open to all from 15 years old and more accessible than the 9000 course, with approximately 180km and 6m of elevation gain to cover during the week, this formula allows runners of all levels to tester on Competition Mode. With a less demanding route, the landscapes are nonetheless just as exhilarating. Whether from Bramans to Aussois, passing by the Forts Marie-Christine and the Lac du Mont-Cenis, participants will be amazed by the natural beauty of the landscapes of Haute Maurienne Vanoise.

EDF e-Race
This is the course that brings together electric mountain bike enthusiasts who want to compete with other e-bikers over varied distances and terrains. This course is of course open to everyone from 19 years old. Participants will take the same routes as the 6000 Course.

Ultra mode, an extraordinary mountain bike adventure

On the program for this extraordinary mountain bike adventure, a cross-border route between France and Italy to be completed as a duo and in less than 50 hours.

This adventure is up to the participants to compose it. The basic course is 150km and 4m of D+. It is up to them to decide whether they will cross the line as an Ultra Experience or whether they will add the 900 loops to become an Ultra Finisher! This year 3km and 260m of positive elevation gain await them!

Hiking mode

Sporty hike 
Following in the footsteps of the Parcours des 6000 but without having to endure the pressure of the stopwatch, the Rando sportive is an ideal format. With a total of around 175km for 5m of elevation gain, this event allows you to take in the sights in a relaxed manner. Over one or more days, participants will be able to discover this course at their own pace, taking full advantage of the surrounding landscapes. As a bonus, on some days, runners will even be able to use the ski lifts.

Family hike
Adapted to please both young and old, the Rando familiale offers routes of only around twenty kilometers each day. Always in this desire to satisfy all participants and make the event even more accessible, "shortcuts" are authorized and the ski lifts, free of charge, are made available by the resorts for mountain bikers.

EDF R-rando
Open to all e-bike owners, this event allows you to enjoy the magnificent routes of the Transmaurienne Vanoise “without pushing yourself”.

Transmau' by night
This short night hike, inaugurated in 2021, will be an opportunity to discover the mountain bike experience and the Haute Maurienne Vanoise region at night. See you on Monday, July 18, starting from Val Cenis.

Kids Mode

Organized on Sunday July 17 in Val Cenis, the Kids Mode allows the youngest to discover and learn the different disciplines of mountain biking under the eyes and encouragement of their parents. Three formulas are offered for 3 to 14 year olds. This year, the Downhill and Cross-country will be part of the Departmental Trophy for Young Mountain Bikers of Savoie!
