Cyclo Les Copains-Cyfac: an exceptional 34th edition!

It was in Ambert (63) that the Cyclo les Copains-Cyfac took place from June 30 to July 3. In total, more than 2600 participants met on the routes and passes of the Livradois-Forez region. After a wet 2021 edition, cyclists, organizers and volunteers were delighted to finally be able to meet up in the sun!

NEW FOR 2022: THE ULTR'ARVERNE

This year, the organization launched a new challenge: an ultra to go around the historic Auvergne by its highest peaks routes, in less than 69 hours. In total, 80 adventurers set off on Thursday evening and Friday morning from Ambert, on the 4 routes of their choice created especially for them: 781 km & 14m D+, 500 km & 715m D+, 13 km & 000m D+ and 639 km & 12m D+. A unique opportunity to confront 000 emblematic summits of the 573 Auvergne departments: Pierre-sur-haute (11 – Puy-de-Dôme), the puy de Montoncel (000 – Allier), the puy Mary (4 – Cantal) and the col de Peyra Taillade (4 – Haute-Loire). A brilliantly taken up challenge, which will undoubtedly leave them with memories full of their heads! Special mention to Irvin Dedecker and Nathalie Baillon, the fastest to have completed the long course in 63h03mn and 15h43mn.

TRAVELLING TRIALS: PUY DE DOME OBJECTIVE & FOURMES COUNTRY

With half-board accommodation, luggage transport and hot meals on the circuit, these two stay packages allow itinerant hikers to enjoy the routes Auvergne for 2 or 3 days, at their own pace, while admiring the surrounding landscapes. If the participants of the first formula had the chance to measure themselves against the eponymous volcano on Saturday morning and enjoy an impressive view of the Auvergne massifs, the others were able to claim the spectacular ascent of the Col du Béal, with its 13 km at 6,5%. No matter which formula you chose, it was a great success!

SATURDAY CLASSIC: COL DU BÉAL BY CYFAC

The Auvergne climb with the greatest elevation gain – 13 km at 6,5% – the climb of the Col du Béal is seeking to become a classic of the Massif Central. In time trial or hiking, the participants were able to measure themselves against the giant of Forez on Saturday morning and enjoy the splendid view at the summit: the Puys chain on the west side, the Mézenc to the south and the Alps to the east.

SUNDAY CLASSIC: FRIENDS

This Sunday, cyclists had the choice between 5 courses ranging from 67 to 156KM. In time trial or hiking, they set off to discover Auvergne, via the routes of the Livradois-Forez regional natural park. In the main event – ​​Les Copains 156 km & 3m D+ – it was Nicolas Chadefaux who won in 210h4, alongside Florence Chacun in the women's race, in 46h6.

7TH ROUND OF THE ROTOR CYCLO'TOUR

This Sunday also marked the 7th round of the Cyclo'Tour Rotor. An integral part of a challenge filled with local produce and conviviality. This event in the heart of Auvergne was unmissable for the participants. See you now on August 14th on the Etape Sanfloraine. After a rainy edition in 2021, this sunny edition will undoubtedly remain in people's minds. Everyone is eager to meet up as soon as possible on the routes of Livradois-Forez in 2023!
