IRONMAN Hawaii 2022 women: victory for Chelsea Sodaro, Justine Mathieux 20th and withdrawal of Manon Genêt

The legendary IRONMAN in Hawaii, the annual venue for the circuit's full-distance world championship, crowned American Chelsea Sodaro on Friday, October 7, in 8:33:46, ahead of Briton Lucy Charles-Barclay in 8:41:37 and German Anne Haug in 8:42:22.

On the French side, Manon Genêt, the best French chance, had to abandon the race due to severe stomach cramps during the bike ride. After stopping and then fainting, she was taken to the emergency services to be put on a drip, before recovering.

Justine Matthieux, another Frenchwoman in the women's professional race, took 20th place in 9h31'25.
