Between October 30 and November 5, four French people took on the crazy challenge of drawing a velociraptor no less than 1025 km by bike. This practice, known as Strava Art allowed them to achieve an official world record this week.
It took six days to Maxime Brugère, Florent Arnaud, Franck Delorme and Nicolas Meunier to bring their project to life. These four cycling friends first made the GPS track of this velociraptor before setting off on his bike to complete the 1 km challenge exactly, between the Cher and the Allier.
They got through it at the end of 43 hours, 47 minutes and 26 seconds of effortThis week, the famous English body that records and approves records officially reconnaked this feat as being the record for the largest GPS drawing made on a bicycle.
This activity is part of the essential movement of Strava Art, which involves plotting a route using Strava's route creation tool and then walking or cycling along that route in such a way that the GPS track recorded during the activity reveals a drawing.
Strava is the leading platform for athletes. With over 100 million members in 190 countries, it is the largest sports community in the world. While many fans have tried it, the validation of this record confirms that utmost Strava Art is very French !

This velociraptor is not the first attempt Cyclos Randonneurs Saint-Galmier. Before this Strava Art was rewarded, the group had made two attempts: a tyrannosaurus of 200 km in the Loire department in 2020 and a diplodocus of the same size in 2021 on the Saône-et-Loire side.
On his Strava activity, Maxime Brugère, instigator of the project, explains that these giant dinosaurs are not a trivial choice: “Dinosaurs are proof that such strong species can disappear quickly and this is what we are currently experiencing with the sixth mass extinction. We are the main culprits of this environmental crisis, but also its main victims. As such, the future is in our hands and cycling is one of the best ways to contribute to change".
