Maurienne Trilogy 2023: a weekend at the summits

The 29th edition of the Maurienne Trilogy took place this weekend in the small resort village of Albiez-Montrond, at the foot of the Aiguilles d'Arves, emblems of the event.

A Trilogy over two days this year with the Toussuire and Albiez-Montrond Chrono Climbs on Saturday and the two cyclosportive events accessible by hike or time trial on Sunday.

On Saturday, the participants took a neutralized start from Albiez-Montrond behind the lead car. A way to avoid any excess of confidence in the descent before the start of the time trial just after the famous Opinel roundabout for 15km of climbing and 1m of D+ to swallow in the direction of La Toussuire. After this rather copious warm-up, all the cyclists went back down to Villargondran, taking their time, for the second timed climb of the day, that of Albiez-Montrond passing by the Col de la Confrérie and its 100 hairpin bends sheltered by the forest.

This Sunday gave way to the Arvan and Arvan Villards courses, reworked at the last minute following the work on the descent of the Col de la Croix de Fer and the passage of the Marmotte runners on the initially validated route.

On the day's programme, some of the most beautiful passes in the Alps and a lovely ride in the largest cycling area in the world to discover its majestic landscapes.

Montvernier laces, a hike in the valley to Epierre, climb of the Col du Glandon and its terrible last kilometers then return in a neutral way to Albiez-Montrond by the Col du Mollard, the participants saw the country today.

The places on the podium were won with sweat and panache since the first of the long course, Antoine TRAN VAN, finished in 3h12m33s, neck and neck with Yoann PAILLER, only 20 seconds behind him.

The Maurienne Trilogy, over the two days, was the 4th, 5th and 6th rounds of the Cyclo'Tour Rotor. Congratulations to Cédric RICHARD who keeps his Rotor leader's jersey, as well as to Eva POIROT in the ladies who finds the Matchy jersey and to Nicolas FUSILLER in the Master 50 who proudly wears the Ergysport jersey.

After this sporting weekend, the Maurienne Trilogy, one of the oldest cyclosportives in France, continues to inspire dreams and offer routes taken by the greatest and proves that it knows how to adapt and reinvent itself.

The 30th edition next year will be no exception to the rule and will take the Maurienne Trilogy into a new dimension.
