Launch of the Fulcrum SHARQ wheels, a fast wheel for all routes

It's spelled "SHARQ", but it's pronounced "new dimension". At least at Fulcrum, on the occasion of its twentieth year of activity, because the range is enriched with the first product entirely dedicated to endurance and all-road use. The name, "SHARQ", embodies the essence of this new wheel with a precise character: a convergence of flexibility, handling, aerodynamics, responsiveness and comfort, characteristics inherited from the experience acquired with Speed, Wind and Rapid Red Carbon.

Designed to enhance the driving experience on mixed courses, from asphalt to dirt roads, SHARQ is the result of careful research, advanced engineering and extensive design and development work. test, in order to guarantee the best possible performance. All with a 100% controlled supply chain, in which all components are made in Europe and assembled in the brand's factories.

The new Sharq is characterized by a 25 mm internal channel, a good compromise both for the tires of route of at least 30 mm, ensuring aerodynamics and improving rolling resistance, as for wider and knobby tires, providing effective support to the tire structure in off-road use. In order to be compatible with tubeless and inner tube systems, the rim is equipped with a mini-hook, which guarantees maximum safety.
As is the Fulcrum tradition, the wall is not drilled, and is therefore compatible with tubeless tires, without the need for rim tape.

2-Wave Rim: a combination of waves
The new rim design – whose patent is currently being approved – is the result of an experimental process, during which Fulcrum analysed the reactions of different solutions to frontal and lateral wind conditions affecting handling and aerodynamics.

The result of this process is called 2-Wave Rim and it is one of the distinctive elements of SHARQ: it provides a rim with a regular symmetrical wave, which transforms into an asymmetrical wave on the sides. The profile height varies between 42 and 47 mm, at the highest and lowest part of the wave. This new design allows to balance the parameters of handling and reactivity, with excellent aerodynamics.
The new shape, combined with a lamination with Fulcrum's proprietary FF100 resin and carbon fibre mix, has resulted in a lightweight and responsive rim: the total weight of the pair is just 1440g, while in terms of crosswind resistance, there is an improvement of 21% in wind conditions between 0° and 10° and up to 30% between 10° and 20°, compared to a traditional profile of the same height.

SHARQ is synonymous with revolution, but also with tradition. The new wheel is fully in line with the Fulcrum philosophy and the desire to offer exclusive technologies and specific products, in order to provide an optimal driving experience and high-level performance.

In this regard, to increase the performance of SHARQ, Fulcrum has developed A3RO: a new flat stainless steel spoke, 3 mm wide and 0,8 mm thick, offering advantagestagconsiderable aerodynamics. In addition, the hub-spoke interface has been revised: the hole provides two additional slots coupled with a specific flattening on the base of the spoke, which allows the latter to remain aligned and not rotate, thus guaranteeing constant aerodynamic support.
The spokes never touch each other (“no-touching spokes”), which allows the tension to be maintained over time and, therefore, ensures the same level of performance throughout the product life cycle, without the need for mechanical intervention to remedy possible drops in tension.
The hub design respects the minimalist style already adopted for the Speed ​​model and is distinguished by Cup & Cone technology: the cone-cup bearings feature USBTM type ceramic balls that slide on an integral through axle with an adjustment ring for extremely precise preload and maximum fluidity.

Able to traverse any terrain, from asphalt to dirt roads, with precision and speed, SHARQ is easy to steer in all conditions, including strong crosswinds, while offering aerodynamics and responsiveness worthy of the wheels of route the most efficient, but also an ability to withstand strong impacts and absorb rough terrain like the best Gravel wheels.
The novelty of the range is the result of a research and development process that required more than 4000 hours between the design, the tests laboratory and field tests.

Most of SHARQ's components, as is the case for the other wheels, are made in-house, while for those manufactured externally, Fulcrum uses a network of certified European partners, who prioritize meticulous production and social responsibility.
