The 2024 Tour de France takes place from Saturday June 29 to Sunday July 21, between Florence in Italy and Nice. This is the first Grand Departure from the Italian peninsula (the 26th in history from abroad). It is also a final denouement in a time trial that has not happened for 35 years and the legendary duel Laurent Fignon Vs Greg LeMond in 1989, on the Champs-Élysées. On the menu, the peloton (22 teams made up of 8 riders, or 176 runners) must swallow a course of 3 492 kilometers for 53 meters of positive altitude difference. Please note: a total of 59 km individual time trial, 14 sectors of white paths (32 km) to cross during the 9th stage around Troyes and the roof of the Tour to be crossed at an altitude of 2 m with the Cime de la Bonette, the highest route asphalt road in France, on July 19 between Embrun and Isola 2000. After his very heavy fall at the beginning of April at the Tour of the Basque Country, the Dane jonas vingegaard, the two-time defending champion, is on the starting line and a candidate for his own succession. The Slovenian Tadej pogacar, winner of the Giro d'Italia last May, is also in the running for a third victory in the Grande Boucle and, above all, a historic Tour-Giro double.
