Strava Data Review for the Tour de France Women with Zwift

Strava has released the statistics collected during the last edition of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, which ended on Sunday, August 18, 2024 with the victory of Poland's Katarzyna Niewiadoma with just 4 seconds ahead of the Dutchwoman Demi Vollering in the general classification. Performances likely to inspire both women and men cyclists!

This year, the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift saw a total of 519 segments crowned with new QOM (Queen of the Mountain) titles – that’s almost 65 new QOMs per stage!

The QOM champion

Of these 519 QOMs, Dutchwoman Pauliena Rooijakkers of the Fenix-Deceuninck team, who finished third in the general classification, won the most with 39. All of Pauliena's QOMs can be viewed here.

Average speed

Whether speeding through the streets of Rotterdam or climbing the steepest slopes of the French passes, the average speed of this year's Women's Tour was very fast: 35,9 km/h!

What do 82 Stroopwafels and 45 croissants have in common?

Over the course of the 8 stages, starting in Rotterdam and finishing atop the iconic Alpe d'Huez, the Tour Femmes riders burned an average of 12 calories – the equivalent of 409 Dutch caramel Stroopwafels or 82 buttered French croissants!

Demi Vollering has won the hearts of the community

Although she was unable to retain the precious yellow jersey, Demi Vollering gained the most followers on Strava during the race, becoming the most followed cyclist in the women's professional peloton with a community now of 142 people.

Demi also sat down with two-time Olympic gold medalist, two-time FIFA World Cup champion and U.S. women's national soccer team member Tobin Heath ahead of this year's Tour to discuss being a professional athlete today, the power of language in women's sport and the challenges around gender pay equity.
