Following Patrick Lange's victory in Kona on Saturday, October 26, Canyon can claim an extraordinary double victory. His Speedmax CFR bike won both the men's and women's titles at the 2024 Triathlon World ChampionshipsThis historic double success underlines the Speedmax CFR's unmatched aerodynamics, racer-focused engineering and race day reliability.

2024 marks Patrick Lange's third Ironman world title, following his victories in 2017 and 2018, setting a new course record in the process. His victory in Kona came after a stunning run performance, closing a 9-minute gap on his main rival Sam Laidlow, himself equipped by Canyon. However, it was the latter who produced the most impressive performance, becoming the first man to go under four hours on the 180km bike course, with a time of 3:57:22 on the Speedmax CFR.

Winning engineering

Both Laidlow and Lange, as well as Laura Phillip in her winning race in Nice, used the Speedmax CFR monohull cockpit, until now reserved for professionals, which has been configured to place athletes in the fastest and most comfortable position possible, offering advantagestagare significant in terms of time savings.

The Speedmax professional development process began in 2015, in partnership with leading athletes such as multiple Ironman World Champion Jan Frodeno and aerodynamics experts Swiss Side, and refined through hours of wind tunnel analysis and CFD simulations. This led to a Speedmax CFR frame sculpted for minimal drag, while its integrated hydration and storage solutions gave athletes access to nutrition without adding extra drag.

As Canyon celebrates this latest triumph, the Speedmax CFR continues to set the standard in triathlon racing, winning all but two men's Ironman World Championship titles since 2015.

There has been no official announcement yet on when enthusiasts will be able to acquire the new cockpit, although Canyon still intends to bring CFR products to the general public.
