On December 6, 2024, the Vélo d'Or® ceremony will award a special prize honoring the societal commitment of cyclists, in addition to the eight trophies announced (Men's Vélo d'Or®, Women's Vélo d'Or®, Eddy Merckx Men's and Women's Trophies, Bernard Hinault Trophy, Daniel Morelon Trophy, Trophy for the best cyclist in the world in Olympic disciplines and Trophy for the best French para-cyclist).

Named in tribute to Gino Mäder, this prize will reward solidarity actions to societal causes carried by a committed champion. The objective is to highlight and stimulate these social and societal initiatives, the impact of which is felt beyond sport.
A remarkable Swiss cyclist, Gino Mäder has distinguished himself throughout his career by his sporting performances, but also by his deep commitment to environmental and societal causes. His heirtage as an advocate for a greener planet and a more sensible society has left an inspiring mark on the cycling community and beyond. Gino Mäder tragically died racing at the age of 26, during the 2023 Tour de Suisse.
The jury of the Gino Mäder Prize will be composed of personalities from the world of cycling as well as representatives of the Vélo d'Or® organization and LCL.
