New Basso Always Fast

Handcrafted in Italy and weighing 6,7kg, but competitively priced and aimed at recreational cyclists, the new Basso Sempre Veloce seems to bring together the best of the worlds of competition and cyclosport.

The Basso Sempre Veloce is a bicycle route high-end, modern and high-performance, entirely made in Italy, but with a price lower than that of the high-end Asian models of the major brands. The Sempre Veloce in its high-end version Campagnolo Super Record Wireless S or SRAM Red AXS is sold at the price of €11.

The choice usually comes down to an Asian-made aero monocoque frame or a home-built tube-to-tube frame. Basso adds that there’s also a choice between a race bike designed for professional athletes or one that offers comfort and versatility but sacrifices some performance elements. Basso says the Sempre Veloce combines race-level performance with the adjustability and comfort that recreational riders expect.

The new Sempre Veloce is Basso’s new flagship model and has been updated for the needs of the modern rider. It features clearance for 35mm tires and new geometry. There are seven frame sizes, which overlap so every rider can find a custom fit, 16 cockpit options.

Basso prioritizes rider fit over aerodynamic improvements, but has still lowered the frontal area by 16% compared to the Diamante SV. Bottom bracket and head tube stiffness have also been significantly improved, according to the brand.

The frame is made from high-end Torayca T1100 and T1000 carbon fibers and is announced at 780g in size 53. In its high-end version, it is announced at 6,7kg with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and DT Swiss ARC 1100 wheels.

The Sempre Veloce is priced at €11 in Campagolo Super Record S Wireless or SRAM Red AXS, at €999 in Dura-Ace, and at €11 in Ultegra. It is also available as a frameset for €799. Four colorways are available.
