“Sport, psychology of a passion”: when sport reveals the human soul

Sport is a quest. An epic. Since Antiquity, it has shaped heroes, written legends, and forged mentalities. It is both a celebration of the body and an adventure of the mind. It is discipline, suffering, surpassing oneself, but also spectacle, illusion and sometimes even prison. Why does sport obsess us so much? Why does it make us dream… and sometimes sink? In Sport, the psychology of a passion, available February 19, Dr. Jean-Christophe Seznec delves into the history, values, myths and paradoxes of sport.

Psychiatrist, sports doctor and passionate about humanity, Dr. Jean-Christophe Seznec dissects the benefits and excesses of this universal quest, exploring the heights of performance as well as its darkest chasms.. At 3Bikes, we had the immense honor of contributing to this work. Because this book is not just about sport. It is about us. About our passion. About our way of surpassing ourselves, sometimes to excess.

Sport, between myth and reality

Since the dawn of civilization, sport has been a mirror of humanity.. From the ancient Olympic Games to modern competitions, it has always been a stage where our dreams of greatness, our values, our ambitions are played out. But beyond the spectacle and the glory, what does it really reveal about us?

In this book, Jean-Christophe Seznec takes us to the origins of sport, where heroes are born, where competition is not just a physical confrontation, but a quest for meaning. What drives us to chase performance? Why this irrepressible need to measure ourselves against others, and especially against ourselves? And then there is the other side of sport. The one we talk about less.

Exceeding or addiction? Where is the limit?

Sport is a wonderful tool for self-development. It sculpts the body, strengthens the mind, balances our emotions. It is a refuge, a therapy, a school of resilience. But When passion turns into obsession, when performance becomes a compulsive need, when suffering exceeds pleasure, then... sport escapes us.

Jean-Christophe Seznec explores this fragile border between passion and addiction. It highlights the excesses that the world of sport sometimes glorifies without questioning them: doping, mental pressure, Burn out, self-forgetfulness in the name of ever more extreme performance.

How to stay in control? How to continue to love your sport without getting lost in it? This book provides valuable answers, concrete keys to building an athletic mindset without falling into the traps of the mind..

Mindful sport: finding meaning in effort

One of the most striking chapters in the book deals with the practice of sport in full awareness. In a world where everything goes fast, where performance has become an injunction, how can we rediscover the simple pleasure of moving, of breathing, of feeling alive?

Jean-Christophe Seznec invites us to rethink our relationship with sport. To rediscover the game, the pleasure, the present moment. To free oneself from the tyranny of numbers, times, comparisons. Because the greatest challenge for an athlete is not to win… but to last.
