The result of years of experience and extensive collaboration with the team's professional cyclists and performance experts, the presentation of the Procen Air EF Pro Cycling Team Edition helmet is a source of pride for POC. It allows amateurs to benefit from the same performance and sensations as professionals.
The Procen Air has already been used in important races, and made remarkable performances possible. It has protected the riders and allowed them to optimize their performance during long days in a fast and dynamic peloton.
Commenting on the launch of the new limited edition, Peter Schep, Performance Director for EF Pro Cycling, comments: “ Last year, the Procen Air was a game changer for our riders. Our testThey showed the advantagetagand aerodynamics provided by the helmet. This was confirmed on route with many incredible performances and successes in both the men's and women's teams. We are delighted to offer a limited edition helmet for our fans to benefit from this technology and support the team alongside us. »
Aerodynamics are at the heart of a cycling helmet on route of that type. However, consistent performance requires meeting certain needs: it also depends on ventilation, cooling and protection.
Magnus Gustavsson, Equipment Manager for POC, explains: “ Our mission was to create a helmet that is as aerodynamic as a time trial helmet, that improves the rider's vision and hearing, without compromising their safety. The goal has been achieved, and we are pleased to work closely with the team and offer a limited edition helmet that honors the team and its supporters. »
The new Procen Air is identical to that used by many of the team's riders. Its protection, performance and inspiration are the same. It is available today on poc.com.
Procen Air EF Pro Cycling Team edition – Features
Air flow
The vents on the front of the Procen Air channel air from the high pressure area. This reduces the air stagnant and the resistance that the cyclist has to face. Air is guided inside the helmet. By causing a Venturi effect, just like for the POC Ventral helmet, the air circulation promotes ventilation and cooling. This optimizes the performance of the helmet and the cyclist who wears it.
Visibility/Magnetic screen
In addition to its aerodynamic performance and optimized ventilation, the Procen Air helmet benefits from a new screen that ensures maximum peripheral vision. It allows the cyclist to see better and react more quickly to different racing scenarios, as well as to the jostling that can take place within the peloton.
The new magnetic mounting system gives the rider the simple option of using or removing the shield in one easy motion, ensuring optimum vision at all times. The Clarity shield can be attached with one hand to magnets on the back of the helmet until needed again, all without having to touch the lens. The magnetic “garage” on the back is designed so that the shield does not interfere with the rider, even in an aerodynamically inclined position.
Optimal hearing
In the peloton, hearing is often the first thing that alerts a cyclist. Their spatial perception depends on their ability to discern sounds, especially when other cyclists are coming from behind, outside their field of vision. To this end, the place where the helmet covers the ears is perfected to ensure both optimal hearing and aerodynamic performance.
Minimized turbulence around the ear and the semi-open design allow most cyclists to hear better. In addition, comfort and fit are essential to maintain concentration. The Procen Air's 360° adjustment system allows each cyclist to achieve a secure fit, ensuring optimal position and protection.
Aerodynamic performance
It's clear that the Procen Air favours speed, as many EF Pro Cycling riders have already demonstrated: Kristen Faulkner won the Omloop van het Hageland after a 50km solo breakaway, while Lachlan Morton won the Unbound and completed a lap of Australia in record time.
Many of these results consolidated data collected in the wind tunnel and during tests on route by POC and EF Pro Cycling Team. Testand facing the Ventral helmet, reconnaked for its speed, the Procen Air highlights a significant performance gain, ranging from 5 watts at slow speed, up to 18 watts at high speed (between 30 and 60 km/h). In total, the Procen Air helmet was used in 15 of the 41 victories achieved during the 2024 season by the EF Pro Cycling team.
