G-heat heated insoles: the end of frozen feet when cycling

If winter is starting to bow out, the cold is still very much present. And it will return, inevitably. Every year, it pushes many cyclists to put away their bikes in favor of the home trainer, made easier by the democratization of connected platforms. However, nothing really replaces the feeling of the asphalt, the precision of the piltagand the pleasure of a real outdoor outing. In 2025, solutions to combat the cold exist and are effective. Today, we are talking to you about an innovation from G-heat, the world leader in heated clothing: heated insoles with external batteries. We have them testes.

Why should you be interested in heated insoles?

Living in Grenoble, I know how challenging it can be to ride in sub-zero temperatures.. Layers of technical socks, high-end shoe covers… nothing ever seems to be enough. Sooner or later, your toes end up petrified by the cold, making the outing as uncomfortable as it is shortened.

With these Gheat heated insoles, everything has changed.. More than just an accessory, they have transformed the way I approach winter cycling.

Heated insoles complete the range of G-heat products to combat the cold.

Technology adapted to the needs of cyclists

Gheat, a French company founded in 2017 and specializing in heated equipment for athletes, has successfully established its expertise. While heated soles have been around for a long time in skiing, few solutions adapted to cycling had really seen the light of day until now.. We already had testThese are models from the Sidas brand, effective but still far from optimal comfort. With Gheat soles, we are clearly moving up a gear.

The model testHere is the one with external battery, an obvious choice to keep a low sole height and natural pedaling sensation.

First good surprise: the comforts. The sole is pleasant underfoot and adapts particularly well to pronounced arches. Once the size is chosen (to be adjusted with scissors using the original sole), simply install it in the shoe.

Connected to an external battery, the soles are not too thick.

The wire connecting to the battery comes out discreetly at the level of the external malleolus. Well designed for cycling use.

The batteries are attached using a strap provided, but let's be honest: this solution is not ideal for cycling. I preferred to slide them under the shoe cover or between the sock and the tights. In this configuration, no discomfort felt.

Adjustable and long-lasting heat

Three heating levels are available:

  • 40°C – 11h30 autonomy
  • 45°C – 7h30 autonomy
  • 55°C – 6 hours of autonomy

The adjustment is done via a mini remote control, which can easily be slipped into your pocket.. We are already dreaming of a version connected to our meters… But for now, it remains a simple manipulation.

Pairing with the batteries takes a little attention, but once set up everything works perfectly.

Quick tip: don't leave the remote control in your jacket after going out.. It might end up in the washing machine (I've heard of it...unusable afterwards).

Another interesting point: the batteries use the same connection standard as the Gheat heated gloves. If necessary, it is therefore possible to interchange the power supply between the hands and the feet. An appreciable flexibility to adapt to the conditions of the day.

Heated insoles require adjustment before first use.

On route : a revelation

From the first few turns of the pedal, the thermal comfort is obvious.. Even on long outings exceeding 7 hours in freezing temperatures, my feet never felt cold, even by staying on mode 1 (40°C). Better still, without even turning on the heating, the sole itself already provides additional insulation thanks to its materials.

They also offer a battery-free, heated sole made from natural wool. https://www.g-heat.com/products/wool-soles

The G-heat heated insoles with their external remote control allow you to face extreme cold with greater peace of mind.

With such equipment, dry cold is no longer a problem.. Of course, there remains the question of routeWhether or not it is practical, but for those who dare to ride in winter, this solution is a game changer.

We recommend these insoles without hesitation to all cyclists who want to enjoy the cold season without suffering from the cold.In 2025, there is no excuse for putting your bike away at the first frost.

At €99,90 per pair of insoles, the investment should be worth it to most cyclists! Unfortunately, at the time of writing, the product is no longer in stock. But this should be fixed soon. Perhaps the model with an internal battery will be offered to us for testing soon to compare? We hope so!
