As usual, this event, which crosses France almost diagonally, will offer the riders and followers a rise in difficulty, enhanced in the middle by a team time trial in the Nièvre. The arrival at the summit of the Loge des Gardes, in the middle of the week, will also be a highlight of the race.

The general classification should be decided during the final weekend, during a stage of mytagtowards the Auron resort, then around Nice for the last day. Unless the Dane Jonas Vingegaard has already convinced everyone before the Alpes-Maritimes. The sprinters and punchers will also have their roles to play in this eight-act scenario, both for some finishes and for the echelons that often shake up the race.
