Trek Bicycle continues its transformation towards more responsible cycling with the publication of its Sustainable Development Report 2024. True to its desire to take concrete action for a better world, Trek is taking a new step in terms of reducing its carbon footprint andcommitment to more sustainable practices.

Concrete actions for a measurable impact

Since publishing its first report in 2021, Trek has implemented ambitious initiatives to limit the environmental impact of its business. This year, the company announced that its Short-term targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), ensuring a trajectory aligned with scientific recommendations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Among the major advances of the 2024 report:

  • Transition to cleaner aluminum : Trek now sources aluminum from factories powered by renewable energy, reducing emissions from the production of some frames by up to 70%.
  • Increased use of recycled materials : recycled foam in helmets, bottles made from 95% plants and plastic-free packaging.
  • Optimizing batteries for electric bicycles : Trek extends their lifespan and facilitates their recycling thanks to concrete solutions, in partnership with Call2Recycle.
  • Renewable energies : Trek now powers 100% of its global headquarters and main factory with clean energy and aims to achieve this goal for all of its infrastructure by 2030.
  • Encouragement towards sustainable mobility : thanks to programs like PeopleForBikes and Trek Foundation, Trek invests to make cities more cycle-friendly and accessible to all.
