Canyon presents an Aeroad MVDP Paris-Roubaix edition

Canyon celebrates the Aeroad CFR's triumph at Paris-Roubaix with Mathieu van der Poel's Tensor special edition

Canyon unveils a spectacular version of its flagship bike, the Aeroad CFR Tensor, designed to pay homage to the legendary cobblestones of Paris-Roubaix and the dominance of Mathieu van der Poel (MVDP). After two consecutive editions where MVDP and Jasper Philipsen monopolized the top two places on the podium, this special edition is set to shine this Sunday at the "Queen of the Classics," with MVDP chasing a third consecutive title.

A design inspired by cobblestones

Canyon's signature aero bike, the Aeroad CFR, is deeply connected to Paris-Roubaix, the world's most demanding one-day race. Developed over 15 years, this model incorporates specifications designed to meet MVDP's expectations, such as increased clearance for wider tires, a reinforced front fork, and a sealed headset to withstand the mud and dust of the cobblestones.

The name “Tensor” refers to a stress simulation used by Canyon engineers to analyze the impacts experienced by the frame. The unique paint scheme of this edition illustrates these stresses: dark areas highlight the most stressed parts of the frame, while stylized arrows show the directions of the compressive and tensile forces. This approach allows us to optimize the arrangement of carbon fibers to combine rigidity, robustness and lightness, even on the unforgiving cobblestones of Roubaix ", explains Philipp Oppermann, simulation engineer at Canyon.

Testto the extreme for performance

Paris-Roubaix is the ultimate playground for Canyon engineers. Every year, the CFR (Canyon Factory Racing) team testand the frames before and after the race to draw valuable lessons. This data directly feeds into improvements to future versions of the Aeroad. The cobblestones create intense vibrations that shake the bike violently. If a bike can withstand this, it can take on anything. ", underlines Lukas Birr, designer of the Aeroad.

The 2021 edition, marked by extreme weather conditions, led to the creation of a new ultra-resistant front fork, equipped with a sealed headset and a titanium bearing seat. This philosophy – leaving nothing to chance – is at the heart of the CFR program, which aims to produce bikes capable of winning the biggest races, on route, cobblestones or track.

The Tensor Edition: an exceptional bike

The Aeroad CFR Tensor doesn't just boast a unique design. Equipped with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 2x12 groupset, hydraulic disc brakes, Dura-Ace C50 wheels, and Pirelli P-Zero Race TLR RS Team Edition tires, it's identical to the one used by MVDP and the Alpecin-Deceuninck team. Exclusive Canyon Pro stickers and the Selle Italia Flite Boost SF Carbonio MVDP saddle complete this masterpiece.
