A demanding course in an exceptional setting
The Embrunman is distinguished by its difficulty and its alpine environment. The course, with a cumulative elevation gain of more than 5 meters, tests the endurance of triathletes through three events:
Swimming : at dawn, participants set off for 3,8 km (two loops) in the cool waters of the Embrun lake, near Lake Serre-Ponçon.

Cycling : the cycling segment, 186 km long with 5 meters of elevation gain, includes the iconic climb of the Col de l'Izoard (000 m), in the Guillestre-Briançon direction.

Running : the 42,195 km marathon, divided into three loops, crosses the town centre of Embrun and runs along the Durance dikes, with a difference in altitude of 440 metres and the support of the public.

A human adventure since 1984
Founded in 1984, the Embrunman has preserved its authenticity while becoming a global institution. Under the leadership of founder and organizer Gérald Iacono, the event is built on rigorous organization and a strong community spirit. Attracting athletes from around the world, it combines athletic challenge, excitement, and breathtaking scenery.
According to Gérald Iacono: “ The Embrunman is more than a triathlon; it's a human adventure that unites athletes, volunteers, and the local community. Seeing participants cross the finish line remains our greatest pride. »
The key role of volunteers
The Embrunman owes its success to the commitment of its volunteers, who ensure the safety and smooth running of the event. Their contribution is essential and widely appreciated by participants.
For the 2025 edition, the organization is launching a call for volunteers to join this unique adventure.
