Strava acquires cycling training app The Breakaway

Strava, the fitness platform, announced the acquisition of The Breakaway, a cycling training app developed within the Y Combinator incubator. This acquisition follows the acquisition of Runna, a running app, and is part of Strava's strategy to enrich its ecosystem for its global user community.

Michael Martin, CEO of Strava, said: “ The Breakaway, founded by Jordan Kobert, Kyle Yugawa, and their team, offers a tailored solution for cyclists looking to improve their performance. This acquisition strengthens our subscription offering and supports our mission to support users in achieving their goals. »

The Breakaway offers personalized coaching, detailed ride analysis, and performance tracking tools, encouraging regular activity. The Breakaway users connected to Strava record twice as many activities as other cyclists on the platform. This acquisition reflects the two companies' shared vision of promoting an active lifestyle.

This transaction is part of Strava's growth dynamic and highlights its commitment to innovation, particularly through its open API, which allows external partners to develop new features for users.
