Triathlon – Estérel Côte d'Azur enters the legend

Estérel Côte d'Azur hosts a historic event: T100 and WTCS in 2025

For the first time, the Estérel Côte d'Azur region, in Saint-Raphaël and Fréjus, will simultaneously host two major world triathlon competitions: the T100 Triathlon World Tour (long distance) and the WTCS – World Triathlon Championship Series (short distance). This event, scheduled for August 30 and 31, 2025, marks a significant milestone for the region, which joins the select group of international triathlon destinations, alongside cities such as San Francisco, London, and Singapore.

A world first for triathlon

This is the first time that the T100 and WTCS circuits have been held jointly at the same venue. It will also be the first WTCS round held in France since the circuit's creation in 2009. This event positions Estérel Côte d'Azur as a key player in world triathlon, thanks to its unique natural setting between the Mediterranean Sea, red rocks, and pine forests.

A course designed for athletes and spectators

The T100 Estérel Côte d'Azur route, also open to amateurs in the “100k” format, includes:

  • 2 km of swimming in the sea, off the coast of the Fréjus Nature Base.
  • 80 km of cycling on routes closed, including the Corniche d'Or, Théoule-sur-Mer, Mandelieu, Les Adrets-de-l'Estérel, the Col du Testanier and Saint-Aygulf.
  • 18 km of running on a flat and attractive circuit at the François Léotard Nature Base.

This route, combining coastal landscapes and the relief of the Esterel, offers a setting that is both demanding and spectacular, comparable to the greatest international courses.

An ambition driven by the region

This event is part of the Estérel Côte d'Azur strategy, supported by Frédéric Masquelier, Mayor of Saint-Raphaël and President of the urban area, as well as local elected officials. The goal is to position the region as a leading destination for major international sporting events. With its infrastructure, Mediterranean climate, and landscapes, the region has the necessary assets to welcome athletes and spectators in optimal conditions.

A global showcase for the region

Broadcast in 195 countries via media outlets such as Eurosport and Warner Bros. Discovery, the event will provide international visibility to Saint-Raphaël and Fréjus. The expected tourist benefits will strengthen the region's appeal in late summer.

Competitions for everyone

In addition to professional races, the event will offer formats accessible to amateurs:

  • Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run.
  • Olympic Triathlon: 1,5 km swim, 40 km cycle, 10 km run.

A high-level organization

The T100 is organized by the PTO (Professional Triathletes Organization), designated organizer of the long-distance world championship for the next 12 years. The WTCS, managed by World Triathlon, represents the elite of the Olympic format. The official presentation, held on May 7 in Saint-Raphaël, brought together representatives of the organizers, local elected officials, and athletes, including Léo Bergère, Olympic medalist and Saint-Raphaël resident, who praised the exceptional quality of the course.

Estérel Côte d'Azur is poised to become a global benchmark for the discipline, combining athletic performance and tourist appeal.
