ENGO launches “Heart Rate Zone” into the field of vision

ENGO smart glasses now take workout tracking a step further by displaying key data directly in the field of vision. The new Heart Rate Zone (HR Zone) widget makes it even simplertagand intensity tracking. Thanks to an intuitive visualization, athletes instantly identify their effort zone (from Z1 to Z5), avoiding watch-related distractions and optimizing their mental and physical performance. Compatible with Garmin (and soon Apple Watch), ENGO thus further facilitates effort adjustment by minimizing cognitive load, and always without leaving the route eyes.

Lighten the mental load of performance monitoring

For endurance athletes, constantly checking their watch creates a disruptive cycle: look down, process numbers, adjust effort, lose focus, repeat. This “task switching” depletes mental energy, induces micro-spikes of adrenaline, and breaks that precious flow state where running feels effortless. This cognitive burden can reduce mental performance by up to 40% during a training session and significantly impacts the perception of effort, making everything harder when it matters most.

The new Heart Rate Zone (HR Zone) widget on ENGO smart glasses helps free runners from the guesswork/watch-checking cycle. Each training zone appears distinctly, with a dynamic cursor showing precisely where your current heart rate falls within your customized zones.

For Eric Marcellin-Dibon, founder of ENGO: “Our mission with ENGO and lightweight augmented reality is to provide essential information that optimizes the athletic experience and improves performance. The Heart Rate Zone (HR Zone) widget perfectly illustrates this philosophy by harnessing the brain’s natural ability to interpret visual signals instantly, much faster than text. This makes adjusting intensity almost instinctive and requires very little mental resources. Athletes maintain their focus on their environment and technique, preserving that precious flow state during exercise.”

Availability

The widget is compatible with Garmin watches (and soon with Apple Watch). No complex settings are required: heart rate data is automatically synchronized and displayed on the glasses when the session starts.

With this system, the user can:

– Identify your stress zone at a glance (from Z1 to Z5)
– Avoid cardiac drifts which are sometimes difficult to perceive.
– Optimize training intensity, whether in basic endurance, tempo or high intensity.
– A smarter head-up display

This new feature continues ENGO Eyewear's mission: to make data useful, accessible, and actionable in real time. With ActiveLook® technology, athletes benefit from key real-time data such as speed, altitude, and distance traveled, directly in their field of vision, without compromising their safety or enjoyment.

With a featherweight 36g, 12-hour battery life, and exceptional readability of essential data such as speed, heart rate, or distance traveled directly in the user's field of vision, these glasses allow runners to stay focused on their course, while avoiding the need to consult a watch or smartphone, thus enhancing the safety and fluidity of the race.
