Test of the X-Bionic Xceed Ride Liner bib shorts

With the Xceed Ride Liner Shorts, X-Bionic offers a completely different take on comfort than most other brands. Thanks to a fabric specially designed to regulate body temperature and the absence of suspenders, these X-Bionic shorts are particularly comfortable to wear on hot days, even if they show their limitations after more than four hours in the saddle. Their price of €100, however, is quite reasonable.

The X-Bionic Xceed bib shorts use a thick, yet highly breathable fabric.

From the Xceed range of the Swiss brand X-Bionic, these shorts stand out for their innovative technologies and their design carefully designed to meet the requirements of cyclists., especially in hot conditions. The "woven" textile used is initially surprising due to its apparent thickness. However, thanks to the optimized cut of the shorts and their light and well-distributed compressive effect, this impression fades from the first pedal strokes.

The mesh fabric feels very comfortable on the skin.

The same goes for the waistband of the cycling shorts, which may seem, at first glance, a source of discomfort in the abdomen due to its height up to the navel and its relatively firm support. However, once in motion, this sensation quickly disappears, giving way to comfort that almost makes you forget the absence of straps.

Technologies for comfort

The Xceed Ride Liner Shorts incorporate Hygrodiffuser technology combined with the Vectorsphere system for body temperature management. These solutions combine hydrophobic and hydrophilic yarns to manage moisture. In principle, during exercise, sweat is distributed over a large surface area to promote a cooling effect., to maintain body temperature around 37°C.

the cut of the shorts promotes support without straps.

Conversely, in the absence of perspiration, the knittagThe 3D of the textile creates air pockets that retain body heat, suitable for cooler conditions.

SweatVent panels, made of a lightweight mesh, provide ventilation in areas prone to perspiration, with the aim of providing a feeling of freshness, particularly in the crotch area. The integrated Skin Nodor and Mythlan yarns limit the proliferation of bacteria, thus reducing odors and maintaining fresh comfort.

Adapted comfort and ergonomics

The seamless design and knitted structure of the shorts minimize irritation, even during long and/or repeated ridesThe chamois leather, light, dense, but not excessively thick, is designed to limit friction while preserving freedom of movement.

The fabric is designed to resist abrasion.

At the waistband, IDEO-Waistband and Aktiv-Bund technologies are designed to ensure stable support without compression, for an adjustment adapted to the body shape.

The lightweight technical fabric promotes breathability and is pleasant against the skinIt is important to emphasize that the fibers used are resistant to stretching and abrasion, ensuring good durability, even with frequent use.

At the bottom of the legs the elastic is never restrictive.

Note that these shorts can be worn under wider shorts, for gravel or gravity mountain biking, to maintain comfort while adopting a style specific to these disciplines.

On route with the X-Bionic Xceed Ride Liner Shorts

Testfor the first time on a hot day, These shorts pleasantly surprised us with the feeling of freedom they provide at the torso level, thanks to the absence of straps. Even when these are light and not very bothersome, they always add an extra layer of thickness between the skin and the swimsuit, or even the undershirt. With the Xceed, you feel freer at the shoulders, more "airy", especially when wearing a very thin swimsuit.

However, you have to deal with a firm elastic waistband, which goes up quite highFortunately, its sufficient width prevents any compression at the abdomen level, except in the case of significant overweight.

The shorts provide firm support at the thighs, but never bothersome when pedaling.

At the thighs, the bottom of the shorts provides firm support, but it proves to be less restrictive than some competing models with silicone bands. Throughout the leg, the woven fabric stays perfectly in place, without giving the impression of being too tight.

Over the kilometers, the chamois leather is ideally positioned to prevent unpleasant friction linked to perspiration, offering stable comfort for up to about four hours in the saddle. Beyond that, it lacks a bit of thickness for our taste, which leads us not to recommend it for very long distance rides.

However, The Xceed excels in moisture management in hot conditions, a major assetAfter a 130 km ride in 37°C, we particularly appreciated its stable fit, breathability and the absence of excessive sweating in the lower body, providing a pleasant cooling effect.

The X-Bionic Xceed Ride Liner Bib Shorts are quite good value for money.

Its lightweight design, precise fit and durability make it an ideal choice for riders on route, gravel or off-road. Priced at €100, these shorts offer excellent value for money given the innovations incorporated. A great discovery.
