Vredestein Superpasso Pro TLR 28-622: a sharp, classy tire that's not just there to decorate your rims
There are tires that do the job. And then there are those that, in addition, have that little something. That kind of technical elegance that doesn't shout, but whispers in the ears of connoisseurs: " I'm here to ride fast, but without sacrificing handling. route nor your self-esteem on wet descents. » And it's precisely in this category that we can place the Vredestein Superpasso Pro TLR, in its 28-622 version. This high-end tubeless-ready tire promises to combine performance, grip, comfort, and durability. We mounted it (not without a few angry pumps), rode it, and above all analyzed it. Verdict below, without rubber tongue.

Vredestein, or the Dutch school of precision
Before we talk about what's rolling, a word about those who make it. Vredestein is a bit like Dutch technical eleganceA century-old company that has long supplied tires to cars, farms, and demanding cyclists. Unlike other brands that put their name everywhere except where it counts, Vredestein is rather discreet but rigorous.
With its Superpasso range, the brand is clearly aimed at cyclists focused on pure performance., without falling into the trap of radical minimalism. Here, we seek balance: between performance and comfort, between grip and longevity, between taut lines and predictable behavior. A bit like a good natural wine: lively, but not unpredictable.

Technical specifications? Really serious.
The Superpasso Pro TLR was not designed to decorate thetaggarage era. It's 120 TPI, with a soft casing, a triple density TriComp rubber (grip, resistance, longevity), discreet but present puncture protection (PPS), and even a TWI — Tread Wear Indicator, the little wear indicator that we look at every 3 months and say to ourselves " Hey, is he still here? »
What we read on the box:
- Type: Tubeless Ready
- Dimensions: 28-622 (700x28c)
- Announced weight: ~245 g
- Technologies: TriComp, PPS, Active Control, TWI
- Montage recommended: modern rim, well-fitted rim tape, preventative in controlled quantity
On paper, it's solid. But as always, it's up to the route to decide.
Montage: easy… well, almost

If you like thrills, the worldtagtubeless is an initiation rite. And this one is no exception. The Superpasso Pro is mounted by hand (with a firm grip), clips onto the floor pump quite well, but can be shy if your rims are temperamental.
On our 45mm Knight Composite wheels, Chris King hubs and its famous distinctive “bzzz” sound from the RingDrive™ the montagIt required a bit of liquid soap on the sidewalls, a tight rim tape, and a dash of muscular persuasion. Once flattened, the tire held the pressure without leaking, and the feeling of “initial stiffness” quickly faded after 10-15 km.

(At the same time, at 3bikes, we are leading a test complementary to the Vredestein Superpasso Pro in Tube Type version — in full black color and 28 mm section. They will be mounted with inner tube on the most beautiful wheels of Guillaume, our boss himself. Verdict and feedback to be discovered in a few weeks.)
Speaking on route : a real character, without drama

Performance: the right pedal stroke
This tire is a bit like a sharp blade that doesn't try to impress, but cuts cleanly. It doesn't catapult you like a brand new, pumped-up Conti GP5000, but the feeling of fluidity is definitely there. On the flat, you can feel the casing doing the job. Uphill, the responsiveness is good, no sluggishness, even on acceleration. And above all: no feeling of dragging anvils despite the 28 mm (which is becoming the standard).
Grip: especially in the rain… surprise
Where the Superpasso really surprises is on wet corners. The “Active Control” technology (marketing or reality?) really works: no drifting, no sneaky sliding, and impeccable handling. We have it teston polished asphalt, routegreasy and wet cobblestones: it remains predictable, reassuring, almost too wise. But we prefer that to an acrobatic recovery.
Comfort: controlled flexibility
The 28 mm plays its role as a natural shock absorber well. The thin carcass filters vibrations without bouncing. On the routeOn granular or slightly bumpy surfaces, you can feel the tire absorbing it, smoothing it out, without too much loss. All between 5 and 5,5 bars for a weight of 67 kg: a perfect compromise.

Wear, punctures and resistance: don't exaggerate either
After almost 450 km, the tread is starting to lose a little of its initial grain, but nothing abnormalThe TWI (wear indicator) is still clearly visible. No chips, no significant cuts, and not the slightest puncture, despite a few areas full of sharp gravel, notably between two fields in our beautiful Vexin countryside.
In terms of durability, we're pretty confident. We'll have to see how long it lasts beyond 1 km, but for now, the promise is kept: this tire isn't just a Sunday sprinter, it can last a while.
Comparison: Vredestein Superpasso Pro TLR vs. GP5000, Vittoria Corsa N.EXT Graphene 2.0, Michelin Power Cup TLR (and all in tubeless version)
In the tire category route When it comes to high-performance tubeless tires, three benchmarks often dominate the debate: the Continental GP5000 S TR, the Vittoria Corsa N.EXT Graphene 2.0, and the Michelin Power Cup TLR. We already have them all. testare at home 3bikes this year in a Tubeless version. Here's how the Vredestein Superpasso Pro TLR stacks up against these heavyweights.
- Against the Continental GP5000 S TR
The GP5000 remains the king of pure performance. It rolls fast, very fast in fact, with an immediate feeling of fluidity. It also boasts formidable longevity, and its grip is ultra-reliable, especially in fast corners.
However, comfort-wise, it is a bit drier than the Vredestein. And itstagIt can remain tricky depending on the rims, even if the S TR version is clearly more user-friendly than the old one.
The Vredestein, on the other hand, offers a more balanced performance: a little less incisive, but more flexible, more comfortable, and easier to live with on a daily basis.
Verdict: Get the GP5000 for full-bore racing, the Vredestein if you're looking for a fast but versatile tire with a touch of suppleness.
- Facing the Vittoria Corsa N.EXT Graphene 2.0
The Vittoria Corsa N.EXT is very pleasant to ride. It offers superior comfort thanks to its generous rubber and soft casing, and natural grip on lean. On the other hand, it is heavier (often around 300g in 28mm), and the pure efficiency is a little behind compared to the Vredestein.
The Vredestein is more responsive, more lively in acceleration, and offers a better weight/performance balance. It is also more oriented toward "serious performance," whereas the Vittoria is aimed at long distances, endurance, or high-end training.
Verdict: Choose the Vittoria for smoothness and comfortable long rides. Opt for the Vredestein if you're looking for a sportier tire without sacrificing too much comfort.
- Facing the Michelin Power Cup TLR
The Michelin Power Cup is a true racing tire. Lightweight, stable, and with excellent performance, it's reassuring even at high speeds. It holds its line very well, is durable, and its grip is very reassuring, especially in dry conditions.
Where Vredestein takes a small leadtage, it is in its ability to better filter vibrations and to offer a more flexible contact with the routeThe Michelin may seem firmer, more “racing” in its overall feel.
My sidetage, both are fairly easy, with a slight advantagetage for the Michelin on some rims. In terms of style, both remain sober and clean, without frills.
Verdict: The Michelin for pure racing or energetic cyclists. The Vredestein for those who want a fast but more forgiving tire for everyday use.

Our opinion
The Vredestein Superpasso Pro TLR stands up to market benchmarks with a smart approachIt's neither the most extreme nor the most flashy, but it manages to tick almost all the boxes: good performance, excellent grip, controlled comfort, and encouraging durability.
Compared to models like the GP5000 or the Power Cup, it plays the technical versatility card. Compared to the Vittoria, it adds a welcome touch of liveliness. In short, a true high-end outsider that clearly deserves to be known.
And finally: For whom, why?
If you are the type to:
- Looking for a high-performance tire without mounting it with swear words
- Drive fast but without sacrificing safety
- Love that the tire is both efficient and beautiful
- And you don't like changing your tires every 400 km
…then the Superpasso Pro TLR is clearly in your target.
Price and availability
Count on around €59 per unit at Alternative sports (Thanks to them for sending the product). At this price, we're in the high range, but not crazy for a performance tubeless tire. Especially if you consider that it can compete with the German and Swiss giants, while adding a little touch of Dutch class.
Final verdict
The Vredestein Superpasso Pro TLR 28-622 is a smart tire. Not the fastest, not the strongest, but probably one of the most balanced we've ever had. testandIt inspires confidence, is put together (more or less) without an existential crisis, and transforms each outing into an effective exercise in style.
A great alternative to the classics of the genre, especially if you like the idea of a tire that doesn't try to be fashionable, but just wants to take you far, fast, and with style.
And since a good test calls for another, we are eager to see if the Tube Type version, currently being tested by our other teammate 3bikes, will confirm the same qualities. Same section, other montage… verdict very soon!
