Bytager the publication "When, how and why to know how much sealant is left in your tubeless tire?"
Tubeless means the freedom to ride without an inner tube, but also the responsibility of keeping the system sealed. And one of the key elements of this seal is sealant. But how do you know if you have enough left? When should you refill? And why is it so important?

Why is preventative fluid essential?
The sealant is used to ensure the tire seals on the rim when mounted without an inner tube, and to seal small punctures, thus maintaining pressure and preventing punctures. Over time, this liquid can dry out, lose its effectiveness and no longer fulfill its role.It is therefore crucial to regularly check its level and condition.
When to check and add preventative fluid?
Generally, It is advisable to check the level of preventative fluid every 2 to 6 months, depending on your frequency of use and weather conditions. In summer, with the heat and drier climate, the fluid dries more quickly, so it is recommended to replace it before the usual deadline.

How do I know when it's time to add fluid?
Here are some signs that it's time to add preventative fluid:
- No lapping noise : when you shake the wheel, if you no longer hear the characteristic noise of the liquid, it is a sign that it is probably dry.
- Frequent loss of pressure : if you notice a loss of pressure more quickly than usual, this may indicate that the fluid is no longer fulfilling its role.
- Presence of dry residue or uncovered areas : by slightly deflating the tire and visually inspecting it, if you notice dry areas or residue, it means that the fluid is insufficient.
How to add preventative fluid?
- 1. Deflate the tire slightly : this releases pressure and makes it easier to access the valve.
- 2. Remove the valve core : use a suitable tool for this.
- 3. Insert a graduated syringe : this will allow you to measure the exact amount of liquid to add.
- 4. Inject the preventive liquid : In general, for a 29-inch mountain bike tire, it is recommended to add between 80 and 100 ml of liquid. For a XNUMX-inch bike, route, it's around 40 ml.
- 5. Reinstall the valve core : make sure it is securely in place.
- 6. Inflate the tire to the desired pressure : this allows the liquid to be distributed evenly inside the tire.

In short
Maintaining an adequate level of sealant in your tubeless tires is essential to ensure safe and hassle-free driving.By checking regularly and adding fluid when necessary, you extend the life of your tires and improve your cycling experience, while reducing the risk of trouble on the route.
