This event marks a key step in promoting global cycling and highlights the emergence of African talent on the international stage. These championships provide an exceptional showcase for the new generation of African cyclists, supported by the UCI through its World Cycling Centre (WCC) and the Continental Satellite in Paarl, South Africa, via a targeted strategy called "Africa 2025."
A major new feature in 2025 will be the introduction of separate races for the U23 Women. Although world titles in this category have existed since 2022 (Wollongong, Australia), this is the first time that they will have separate competitions from the Elite Women, marking a step forward for the visibility of women's cycling.
Kigali 2025 promises to be a historic moment for cycling, celebrating both Africa and the future of the sport.
