UCI Ranking Route : results in other disciplines will count from 2027

From 2027, the UCI will allow Teams Route UCI to accumulate a limited number of points from the performances of its riders in other disciplines, following a decision taken at its Management Committee meeting in June.

The disciplines concerned include the UCI World Championships in track cycling, Olympic cross-country mountain biking (XCO), cyclo-cross and gravel, as well as the general rankings of the UCI World Cups in these disciplines. These points, awarded according to a specific scale, will only benefit the Ranking Route UCI team competition for the top 20 male and 8 female riders in each team, with no impact on individual or national rankings. Simulations will be conducted for the 2026 season to finalize the points scale.

A decision that is favorable to teams of riders like Mathieu van der Poel (current world champion in cyclo-cross and gravel), Wout van Aert or Tom Pidcock, and likely to push other teams to let their riders compete in other disciplines, in order to earn UCI points, synonymous with promotions and relegations in the WorldTour.
