BytagSee the publication "November 2025 Update: Your Garmin devices are getting smarter!"
Garmin has just rolled out a major free software update for a large number of its smartwatches (Fēnix, Epix, Enduro, MARQ, Forerunner, etc.) and its cycling GPS devices (Edge 1050, Edge 1040, Edge 840, Edge 540, and even the new Edge 550/850). This update introduces several new features.
The update is already being rolled out globally and will gradually arrive on your devices in the coming weeks (enable automatic updates to receive it as soon as possible).
Here are the major new developments that are truly game-changers.
1. Body Stress Alert: your watch warns you when your body is under stress
Your Garmin now automatically analyzes your sleep data (resting heart rate, HRV, SpO2) and alerts you if it deviates from your usual norm.
Accumulated fatigue, stress, alcohol, the beginning of illness, overtraining… your watch tells you before you even really feel it.
2. Live weather radar and wind on your cycling GPS
When your Edge is connected to your smartphone and the Garmin Connect app, you now have:
- The radar map of precipitation in overlay
- Real-time wind direction and strength
No more unpleasant surprises: you adapt your route or pace before getting soaked or battling an unexpected headwind.

3. Power Guide + Smart Nutrition & Hydration (back-port Edge 550/850)
The star feature of the Edge 1050 is finally coming to the Edge 550 and 850!
- Real-time power targets adapted to your current fitness level, weather, altitude, and acclimatization.
- Specific alerts: "Consume 65g of carbohydrates and 480ml of water in the next hour."
Everything is calculated according to your physical condition, the heat, the humidity and the requirements of the course.

4. Complete analysis of developments used after release
With an electronic drivetrain (Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS, Campagnolo EPS), you can now see the time spent on each chainring/sprocket combination. Perfect for optimizing your race strategy or gearing.

5. Group Ride 2.0: the ride with friends just got a whole new level
Regarding group rides (via GroupRide in Garmin Connect):
- Messaging system currently active
- Live location of each member
- Live rankings for segments and climbs
- Real-time comparison: speed, cadence, power, heart rate, watts/kg compared to the group average
- All this with incident detection and automatic alerts if someone falls.

In summary: even your "old" 2023-2024 Garmin devices become almost as powerful as the high-end 2025 models.
No special action is required: simply let your watch or GPS update automatically (or force it via Garmin Express / Garmin Connect Mobile).
